LifeNews reports that North Dakota State House has approved a bill, supported by the vast majority, that would allow women a chance to see an ultrasound of their baby prior to an abortion.
The legislation is designed to help women learn the humanity of their unborn child and to consider abortion alternatives. If this legislation is passed in the senate, it will offer women a chance to see an ultrasound in the same way she would be able to see an x-ray prior to other medical procedures. It has been demonstrated that some women change their minds about having an abortion after seeing the ultrasound images.
Most abortion businesses do an ultrasound before an abortion is done on a woman and her unborn child, but most women do not have the chance to see it. This right to know legislation was supported across all parties in North Dakota, and has been described as in everyone’s interest since it enhances the informed consent women should be able to expect before an abortion.
A further bill is being considered which considers the information the woman should be given before an abortion and will require the abortion practitioner to tell women that “the abortion will terminate the life of a whole, separate, unique, living human being.” 18 states have passed similar bills to provide women the additional pre-abortion information.
This US right to know legislation should be supported by everyone in the UK. It is incredible that the pro-choice lobby has got away with its pro-choice rhetoric for so long, while withholding information from women and the wider public.
If abortion is a choice, then it is deeply wrong and insulting to women to withhold information which may lead them to make a different choice.
We should be demanding that the UK Government makes it mandatory to inform all women about the medical facts of the abortion procedure and the biological development of the baby before birth, including full disclosure of all ultrasound images, and give women time to reflect (and discuss it with an organisation other than a pro-abortion organisation which is campaigning for more abortions) as well as providing information about adoption and real financial and emotional support to help women continue with the pregnancy.

I`ve no doubt that many women would choose NOT to see live ultrasound images prior to a planned abortion.
I think that perhaps a poster depicting unborn development at say 4 weekly intervals,up until 24 weeks gestation, might be a better option, and could (by law) be displayed in every room of every abortion facility.
It might also help too if a member of staff is obliged to show the woman a photo of a living fetus at a similar age to her own,at the initial consultation.
As a side issue I`m finding more and more that people who argue quite vociferously to keep abortion legal are simultaneously very shocked to learn that the legal limit is a staggering 24 weeks..almost double that of most of Europe.

I think this could be mildly effective, *some* women will be curious and it may deter them. As the last poster said, images depicting the development of an unborn child may do a lot more…especially if they point out in bold letters that your baby has a heart beat from 5 weeks old.
I also feel that if all the terminology that comes with abortion was dropped, i.e ‘foetus’ instead of ‘unborn baby’only paves the way for women to be able to remove emotion from the situation, it also allows for them to objectify their baby and there fore make it easier for themselves to not care about what they are doing. If they were forced to face up to what they are doing and did not have it sugar coated then they may think twiice.
