The focus of the 8 Judges will be on a Texas Law that while not opposing abortion directly, has been successful nevertheless in closing half of the 41 abortion clinics in that State. The relevant law requires that clinics where abortion is provided have to meet the very strictest standards of healthcare, and clearly such standards were not being met in those that have closed.

The history of Abortion Legislation in the US is well-covered on Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States for those seeking more detail on the background to the current case.

One extremely sad aspect of the forthcoming hearing is that this case comes just after the recent death of the heroic Justice Antonin Scalia which has obviously left a huge vacuum in the US Supreme Court ProLife LineUp.
