Artificial womb

Not for the first time the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia shows itself to be at the forefront of life-saving fetal medicine.  You have only to go to:

to read about the extraordinary intrauterine procedures they already perform in this wonderful hospital,  repairing fetal conditions before birth.

Their latest project, the development of an artificial womb to help a very premature baby who would not survive otherwise, is another extraordinary and wonderful development in fetal medicine.  This research is still in early stages, but we hope it flourishes and the artificial womb becomes available for vulnerable premature babies as soon as possible.
